Warm-up:
dynamic stretching
plate swings (10, 35)

3x5 shoulder press (45x5, 55x5, 65x5, 75x3, 85x2 then 90/95/100 x5)
1x15 bench press (95)

4 rounds of:
~55m sprint (2 lengths bb court)
10 box jump (~24")
10 reverse crunches

1x10 Turkish getup (25# barbell)
1x8 floor leg raise (95# bar)
1x3 floor wipers (95# bar)
1x20 plank walk-ups

Whew! End of a tough first week on a CFSB-type schedule, especially while trying to get over this early-stage flu. Presses felt much better than I expected since I was stuck at 95 a month ago - might be the additional benching that's helped. Also tried a new breathing technique, taking my breath with the bar at the top and holding it (and tightening everything) through both the eccentric and concentric phases. Worked well.

Kept the metcon short as I'm wiped out from the week. Surprisingly tiring, HR up in the mid 150s at the finish. Getups were pretty rough with the bar but I like the stability requirement.

For my own records, CFSB week 1 log:

  • back squat - 225, 235(3), 215(3) - 145x15
  • bench press - 135, 140, 145 - 95x15
  • deadlift - 275, 295, 315 - 135x15
  • front squat - 185, 190, 195(2)
  • shoulder press - 90, 95, 100
All lifts x5 except deads (x3). Need to go lighter on my squat weights, but the deads and both presses felt good.
