OCD

I went climbing the last 3 days but was too busy (lazy) to post. Today at PG with Jess, yesterday at Mission Cliffs with Jess, Muriel, and Greg, and the day before at PG with that same group. I lost track of everything that has been done.

Jess seems to think I suffer from OCD because I keep doing the same climbs over and over when I fail on them, but today was payback. I finally finished the 11c on lead that I had kept trying 3 to 4 times every session.

I did need to take once. I also onsighted an 10a on lead, and did an 10d clean on lead. I finished the session with a great 11b on lead. I took about 3 times. It was scary and thin off the ground and then became overhanging with big pieces higher up, a great climb.

A visit to San Francisco

Today Jess and I headed to San Francisco to try the Mission Cliffs gym. It is very nice. I have never been to a gym where almost half of the people are actually leading.

We climbed the following grades: 8, 9, 10a, 10b, 10d. To which she added a 10a and I added 11a and 11b. She also did a V0 and I worked on a V2.

The climbs were nice. Many involved large pinches (2 to 4 inches) with holds that are OK but not great. The 10d had a tricky roof to pass (which proved a bit too tricky for Jess). The 11a and 11b that I did were very long on a slight overhang. They go for about 50 feet and proved to hard for me to do in one go. I had to stop once in both cases.

I am not back in climbing shape yet but its going better than I expected although I might be deceived by the fact that the routes are graded a bit easier than at TRC.
