A little light lifting
Tried to make it in to workout with Kenway this morning but he was already into deadlifting when I arrived. I joined him for a quick set of light deadlifts for form and then went on to some front squats.
Warmup:
Barbell Complex (60#)
10x Turkish getup (35# dumbbell)
20x Deadlift (135#) w/ KL
5x Front Squat (115#)
Workout:
5x5 Front squat (125, 135, 145, 155, 165#)
8x L-pullup (mixed in while I was resting between sets)
3 rounds of:
5x Low-bar back squat (185, 185, 205#)
10x Kipping pull-ups
10x Pushups
The squats felt good. I think that's the most I've squatted in a while and I could feel it a bit when I was done. I think I've also improved (a bit) on my deadlift stance. I'm going to have to work on lifting form with these 5x5 of FS and OHS but I think I'll try to through in some heavy 3x and 1x to work max load. I also think I need more core and metcon training. KL and I were discussing the idea that flexility and/or a weaker core could be contributing to my poor(er) form in the high weight deadlifts and cleans.
