2nd greatest enemy: the sun

Distance: 12.43 mi (goal 14, fail)
Pace: 9:14

I was hoping to run 14 miles today. It would have been my first time doing a half marathon length (actually a little more), but I failed. As of mile 9 I started having difficulty, and I felt it was getting a bit risky to keep on pushing when I stopped.

I was hoping at least my pace had improved, but the last (and only) time I ran 12 miles, it was at an 9:09 pace.

Arrrrgh.

Are you guys using heart rate monitors now? Funny, I just ordered one, mostly for the GPS, but I thought I would have fun with the HR stuff too.

Not K, but I am. I bought a Garmin Forerunner 210. It was mostly for the GPS too. I really like it as I find it impossible to keep a pace "by feel".

Are you running?

Third attempt at running. I gave myself some tendinitis when I moved here, didn't wait long enough, made it worse, and finally waited a full six months before trying again. Ran for the fourth time last weekend, and things seem ok, so I'm increasing with caution.

Mostly running in the country, and hoping to increasingly get into the trails of Fountainebleau. Maybe even some climbing when I need a rest!

So you guys are signed up for the Tough Mudder?
Maybe we can try the death race next year: http://www.youmaydie.com/

Let's hope you stay injury free.

I remember reading about the death race in Outside magazine I believe. The guy writing the article busted his knees doing it.

Maybe we could do the Winter Death Race 2014.
