Warm-up:
dynamic squat stretching

3x5 low-bar back squat (45x5, 85x5, 125x5, 165x3, 205x2 then 225/230/235 x5)
3x5 bench press (45x5, 65x5, 95x5, 115x3, 135x2 then 145/150/155 x5)

3 rounds:
7 L-pullups
7 dumbbell swings (55#)

Whew! Survived the morning after Scott and Begonia's going away dinner/karaoke/whiskey spectacular last night. I'm a big proponent of working out to clear your head, no reason why a hangover should be any different - as long as you don't drop something heavy on yourself.

Squats felt strong, a little slowing on the last rep of the sets but not yet a stall. I've moved my hands to a wider grip which has helped a lot. Given my relative shoulder inflexibility, a wider grip makes it easier to establish a good platform for the bar and the proper back angle. Go up to 230/235/240 next week. Bench was allright, but almost missed the last rep at 155 - might switch to either floor presses or go to 3 rep sets next week.

Nice to get in right after that night drinking. Why are you benching so much? I was under the impression that you and brian thought that benching wasn't a very useful (or maybe efficient?) exercise.

I'm primarily doing it for crossover to the overhead press, but in general it adds counterbalance to all the pulling work I tend to do (deadlifts, pullups, climbing, etc.).
