Jo work
Worked through some basic cross-hand techniques in the first class today. Had a lot of problems with a nikyo technique when the uke was resisting (and strong). Takes a lot to work on relaxing your arm while using your body to rotate around the point of conflict. Of course, the point is to bring to bear your leg and hip strength on the uke's wrist and arm so that you can help them see the benefit of being on the ground...
Second session was Jo work and I realized that I have not practiced Jo in probably almost a year. And I need to really start working on it again because Jo will be on my next test and because it's so practical... there always seem to be big sticks around if you need to whack sense into someone.
