The Feisty Filthy Fifty

WOD 070907

"Filthy Fifty"

For time:

50 Box jump, 24 inch box
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (subbed 35# db)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (subbed 20# db thrusters)
50 Burpees
50 Double unders (subbed tuck jumps)

SS 47:03
KL 36:12

This felt terrible as always. It felt great for awhile and I was really burning through it, but I hit a wall right before the push presses (was ahead of KL before that!) and had to really break everything up after that... almost met pukie, but finally finished. Our times are both much better than they were the last time we tried this, or even our best attempt, which is good. Next time will be better though. Also, I think it may be wise to learn how to do double-unders cause they're probably less taxing than tuck jumps.

Filthy Fifty revisited

general warm up:
pushups, situps, squats (and champagne. ouch.)

workout:
The Filthy Fifty

For time:

50 Box jump, 24 inch box (subbed three stair steps)
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (subbed 35# dumbell)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions (subbed good mornings with 45#)
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (subbed thrusters, 20# dumbell each arm)
50 Burpees (with pushup)
50 Double unders (subbed tuck jumps)

KL 56:53
SS 68:35

Noticeably worse scores than last time. Several possible reasons for this. First, we did have some celebratory champagne before going to the gym which I'm sure wasn't a great idea, but honestly it didn't seem like that was really the problem. I think the gym was just super hot today and really sapped the stamina. There were several points where both of us wanted to give up, but we basically just kept resting and pushed through the damn thing. It's also possible that smoking our legs and core yesterday didn't help either, but again that seemed like a minor issue.

On the upside, I managed to keep my calves from cramping so I saved a bunch of time on the tuck jumps. Phew, this one was just killer today.

The Filthy Fifty

Used most of the same subs as KL & SS. Only difference was that I got to use a real plyo box for the jumps (at least 24", maybe slightly more), and back extensions were done on a horizontal contraption, sort of like a GHR.

54:37

I stood in front of the plyo box for at least 5 minutes before I worked up the courage to start. The last 30 minutes I simply prayed that it would end.

The Filthy Fifty

For time:

50 Box jump, 24 inch box (we used three stair steps)
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (we used 35# dumbells)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions (KL did Good mornings with 45#)
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (we did thrusters, 20# dumbell on each arm)
50 Burpees
50 Double unders (we subbed tuck jumps for this)

KL 41:20
SS 57:10

Oh man. This workout was seriously terrible. It just goes forever. For the last set, both of my calves cramped on the first tuck jump (not that I'm complaining, I'm just trying to give you an idea of how the workout was). This one is totally a keeper.
