Deadly Diane

warmup:
thrusters (45, 65, 85)

Crossfit WOD 030708
"Diane"
21-15-9 reps of:
225# deadlift
handstand pushups (sub wall assist)

KL 7:53 (3:13, 2:46, 1:54)
SS 12:42

For the second day in a row, Scott and I met up at Coles for an early morning workout. After discussing various options, we converged (via a process of "man, I don't want to do *that*" elimination) on Diane. HSPUs done with assist (wall for Scott, Smith machine bar for me). Most recent times here and here for comparision.

Deadlifts felt really heavy, broken (7-7-4-3, 5-5-5, 5-4). HSPUs felt easier, mostly due to using the bar, broken (11-10, 10-5, 9). Big jump in performance by Scott, but I really thought he might die...

Strangely the deadlifts weren't too heavy when I was doing them, but I was completely wiped out whenever I stopped. I went to a switch grip around the middle of the first set, and it helped alot.

Most of my time gain this time around came from the way I was doing the HSPUs I think. Before, I was doing them almost totally vertical and sliding up and down the wall as I went. This time I was at an angle and absorbed the angle with the up and down motion. This is easier, so I imagine it's probably also wrong.
