Just the two of us

Guillaume and I took an intimate trip to TRC (with nary a mention of the website Joana scent us. oh damn, that was nice right?). Both of us were feeling a bit wrecked from work, but I figured climbing would actually make us feel better. We decided to slowly ramp up since there was no need to rush. Started off with a new 8 (red) and 9 (green). Both easy enough that we could focus on clipping, breathing and thinking through the moves. The highlight of the night was the 10 (red) we had attempted at the end of the night a week or so ago. Technical, reachy and peppered with ambiguous clipping positions, it tends to leave you feeling a bit desperate by the finish. But we both managed to fight through the shakes and finish it clean.

We moved onto the 12 (green) on the right side of the column up front. G managed to stick the start and get to the top after a nice fall (almost ended up with a pink triangle up his ass). I couldn't even get the start :-(. We were encouraged though by the fact that Obe acknowledged that it was hard. Then he said the 12 next to it (black) was even scarier to lead ('If you put a coal up your ass, you would come down down with a diamond'). We finished with two ascents each of the brown 11. I think we both managed to improve clipping stances and generally make the climb smoother (not quite as smooth as Kenny G though). Very good climbing, and we got home early too!

My boots should be here tomorrow, Kenway should have some axes, now we just need to go!

Nice climbing, gentlemen!

I've seen that clip before, it's from Ouray a year or two ago. Classic crazy mixed climbing: leashless, drytooling, heel hooks over your head, etc. I like the last one where she pops off the heel hook upside down...

Drytooling is crazy!

Man, falling beside that pyramid could have resulted in a diamond, if only we had brought coal with us...

Hey, how early did you guys get back? Half the reason I never go with you is because I'd get back to my place at midnight.

I got back around 10:45, but that is about 30-45 minutes earlier than usual.

Brian, you for some odd reason look like a pirate. Guillaume, on the other hand, looks entirely too satisfied with something...

Oh crap, the picture. I was hoping it would never surface.

Was this right after the red 10? That would explain my retarded look.

Yup, right after the red 10.
