Mugambi was filling in for Anwar in the basics class today. We worked on katate-tori shiho-nage irimi (come to hold), working on getting the timing of the application just right to use uke's momentum against them. We also discussed how to stop uke countering via attempting to rotate past the technique. Next we reviewed a basic bokken set from ken awaza and most of jo waza to work on basic weapons. My jo and bokken are going to need a lot of work in Aug and Sept if I'm going to get to 2nd kyu in Sept.
