Getting Horizontal
A strong day of bouldering at Coles this evening with Guillaume, Kenway, Alistair and Chloe.
Master Flash-ette worked most of the evening on a crazy route with a big dyno followed by a burly no-foot pullup. At one point trying to work out the best way up Kenway and I were spotting him as he became completely horizontal, pulling hard, above our heads. Kenway and Guillaume also tackled a crazy project with an almost impossible start (probably one that Brain would be good at) involving smearing yourself into a corner, stemming between an arrete and the wall, then with a quick hand transfer getting into a layback off the second hold before moving up to a terrible 'volcano' sloper. More horizontal time! Guillaume sent a nice project in the same corner with a pretty dynamic move up to a nasty sloper.
Alistair also worked on the start of those projects and sent a few of the other whites. Chloe and I worked the easier stuff--both completing the pinks and an orange. I finished up the rest of the oranges and moved on to the easiest whites. One that both Chloe and I where working involved a sit start with a heel hook that took you up onto a nice ledge. We both got stuck at the bump off a small crimp up to a solid two-finger pocket. I also tackled another white that had a sit-start and moved up to a match on a descent sloper--but I kept failing to make the next move.
Lucky for us, we all left with one of the projects spinning in our head... and given that Guillaume both had visions (getting horizontal!) and developed new theories while we were there, I can't wait to see what he'll be able to bring back after a month away with the projects tickling the back of his mind...
