Don't mess with Texas: week 1, volume

Warm-up:
back squats to 185#

5x5 back squat (185, 185, 185, 185, 185)
5x5 shoulder press (85, 85, 85, 85[f4], 85)

Been meaning to start lifting more regularly, and seeing as how Brian's experimenting with Rippetoe's Texas Method geared towards consistent gains for intermediate lifters, I'm going to give it a try.

The general idea is to split a cycle into three days:
Volume (high volume, high intensity)
Recovery (low volume, low intensity)
Intensity (low volume. high intensity)

Picked what I thought to be a relatively conservative weight for the squats (compare to last 5x5 on 042108), felt good for the first three reps but 4 and 5 were at the limits. Presses were tough: nagging wrist tendonitis and residual shoulder tweakiness from climbing was probably less a detriment than just not having done much pressing lately. Failed round mostly due to poor hand placement (too wide).
