Old skooled
Nice early morning session at New Rochelle this morning with Guillaume, Scott, and Anna (on her second climb ever!). Guillaume put on a professorial show, schooling me by flashing the overhanging 5.10 on which we were warming up. We moved on to an 11a with awkward crimpy clipping stances, failing 1 bolt short of the anchors, but Dr. Frechette put in some nice airtime. Then back to school, with me uglying my way up a 9(!) only to have it French-Canadian flashed again. What's a tired climber to do, eh? I felt very much like Thomas Huber, jugging his way up behind his brother Alex.
Brian, we also worked out the crossover move on that 11 (red/yellow) TR we tried at the end of the last session, but the next move ain't much better. Of note, apparently Ivan Greene of Gunks bouldering fame is now setting routes - including this one - at TRC...
Followed it all with a screening of To the Limit, which documents the Huber brothers' assault of the speed climbing record on The Nose, El Capitan, Yosemite:
