Back to Aikido: Day Two

Good practice today. Did both sessions, aikido first and then weapons. Knee felt good but the real test will be how it feels after a couple of days.
Aikido:
Kate-Tori Hantai-Tenkan
Kate-Tori Shiho-Nage
Kate-Tori Kote-Gaeshi
Weapons:
We practiced a shodon paired Bokken form which I have not practiced before and don't remember the name of. Lots of changing angles.

The forms you posted are spelled Kate. is that pronounced 'caught-a'?

If it is, in my head I'd always spelled it Kata. Maybe it's an alternate english-ification.

It's not Kata, which means 'form', it's Kate, which mean's ~'grab'. These were individual techniques. Aikido doesn't have kata (in the normal sense) except for weapons.

Got it, so they were throws then? Or literally 'grabs' that improve position over an opponent and segue to other moves?

I have this image that you guys are both in the same office, typing, and not talking to each other ...

That image would be correct.
