A little over an hour of toproping and bouldering at the Palladium. I finally managed to finish the blue and pink boulder problems that I couldn't quite finish last time (V0?). There were a couple of good routes on the middle of the wall (yellow, and yellow w/ green dots); I got stuck halfway up on both, although I would take and restart from the last position until my arms couldn't hold me up. Learned about flagging and stemming.

Pretty sure I strained a chest muscle (or I'm having an extended heart attack). Some pain on deep breathing, and some referred pain to my neck? Guess, I'll take it easy for a few days; no overhead lifting tomorrow.

Bummer, Brian, hope you're feeling better soon... You were doing great on those routes, forcing yourself to think through them, and your body to learn the moves, will help you improve. Especially when you're tired, you quickly find the most efficient way to do things.

Heading to the Gunks tomorrow, bought a new rope and assorted gear today - like a (poor) kid in a (expensive) candy store. We'll see if Crossfit dividends will make up for weak fingers and a year off the rock...

BTW, I think the blue was V0/V1, the pink V2.

Here's a conversion chart, both between bouldering and classic YDS ratings as well as between YDS and various Euro scales

Have a great day out there! Funny I didn't run into you at EMS, I went and bought a harness today.

Sweet! Did you get the Momentum package?

Before you break it all out, I think EMS has a 20% off everything sale coming up soon (Oct 18th), you could return it and wait...

EMS didn't have the Momentum package in-store, nor did they have the Momentum harness in my size (BD sizing runs a bit small). I treated myself to the BD Blizzard, which is definitely overkill for the gym, but oh so comfortable ... important since I seem to spend equal amounts of time on the wall and hanging from the ropes.

Thanks for the sale tip, I'll make sure to recoup my 20%.

Still sore. I may be up for climbing/working out on Thursday?
