Ugh....
yeah. I kinda fucked it up though. I was so excited to make it tha I got all the ingredients, except sand. They didn't have sand at K-Mart so I went with potting soil. First off, potting soil has rocks and pieces of wood which made getting it down the funnel a serious pain in the ass. Second, dirt takes up more space than sand, so when I finally filled it up (as much as I was willing to) I only had a 10lb medicine ball instead of the 20 I was aiming for. Next time I'll use sand for sure.
Also, I'd want to make a slam ball that could double as a medicine ball. The one I made isn't very full so it doesn't seem like it could serve as a slam ball very well. I think I had seen another recipe online that sealed it pretty well, perhaps enough to inflate it and get some bounce to it.
10 lbs or no, tossing that thing back and forth is a GREAT way to kill time (and possibly a grad student or two) in the lab
Potting soil ... that's about the funniest damned thing I've read all day.
i thought the whole point of a slam ball was to not have much bounce?
