Deadlifts on the crossfit rest day

warmup:
thrusters, pullups, dips, OHS, back squat, front squat, DL up to 225#

workout:
3x 1=4 DL
SS: 225# (strained traps, couldn't complete last 2 sets in last ladder)
KL: 275#

burpee pyramid
1:7:1 SS,KL

Nice to do some DLs again, but I feel like I should have gotten some rest before tackling crossfit again tomorrow. Bah, whatever. It was a little heavy today, but good to work on the feel of it all. While lifting, Kenway said "He was sweating like a pig." When asked later if pigs sweat much, he replied, "Why? Do people actually say that?" And he meant it. Too much lifting, not enough oxygen in the brain!

Swine don't sweat.

Scott, did you pull your trap doing SDLHP as well? Rest up for the CFT!

Well, I actually pulled it doing Grace. I kept on working for the last 10 reps though so it's been kind of sore. I stopped as soon as it burned today, so I should be fine for Monday.

I think all this active lifting from the ground - Grace, SDHLP, snatch work - is working the traps more than we normally do. Rest is the first thing. The other thing you can do to guard against further injury is build the traps through lighter-load, more controlled movements (ie, shrug).
