Adventure Racing, Oct. 21st

So it seems the urbanathalon that we were thinking of doing is scheduled during neuroecon, so we won't be able to do it. Looking ahead, the next viable race seems to be this one in southeastern PA.
Approximate distances include.....
5 miles of running, trekking, orienteering;
10 miles of mountain biking
5 miles of flat water canoe paddling plus fun team challenges.

Race Registration fee: $65 per person

Team Categories:
Single gender team of 2 or 3
Co-ed team of 2 or 3

They give you 6 hours to complete the race. Looking at some of the images, I think this may not be that challenging, but it shouldn't be too bad for our first one.

I think Kenway and I are interested, but Eric will be unable to do it. You interested Brian?

A bike is not listed as required, but they don't seem to provide them either, or did I miss something? I don't own a bike.

I was thinking the same thing actually. A lot of races that include kayaking and biking seem to specify that they'll provide a kayak but make no reference to a bike. I'll email them and let you know.

I would imagine most races expect you to bring a bike. Poking around, it would be awesome to do one with a ropes/climbing element, but it's getting late in the season.

Maybe it's time to start our own race... I'm guessing it will include:
- tire flips
- maybe a stalled car push (i've got the car, fer sure)
- a rope traverse from my office to my apartment (bonus points for doing it in the other way)
- something involving potatoes
- garbage can leap

Any other ideas?

haha sure, but maybe we should cross of the garbage can jump. I'd add door frame pull-ups but I still can't seem to do any, so that's too bad.
