Filthy Fifty revisited

general warm up:
pushups, situps, squats (and champagne. ouch.)

workout:
The Filthy Fifty

For time:

50 Box jump, 24 inch box (subbed three stair steps)
50 Jumping pull-ups
50 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood (subbed 35# dumbell)
Walking Lunge, 50 steps
50 Knees to elbows
50 Push press, 45 pounds
50 Back extensions (subbed good mornings with 45#)
50 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball (subbed thrusters, 20# dumbell each arm)
50 Burpees (with pushup)
50 Double unders (subbed tuck jumps)

KL 56:53
SS 68:35

Noticeably worse scores than last time. Several possible reasons for this. First, we did have some celebratory champagne before going to the gym which I'm sure wasn't a great idea, but honestly it didn't seem like that was really the problem. I think the gym was just super hot today and really sapped the stamina. There were several points where both of us wanted to give up, but we basically just kept resting and pushed through the damn thing. It's also possible that smoking our legs and core yesterday didn't help either, but again that seemed like a minor issue.

On the upside, I managed to keep my calves from cramping so I saved a bunch of time on the tuck jumps. Phew, this one was just killer today.

Quit on this one today - though it felt a little tougher in the beginning, was running a good pace, maybe even a little faster than last time, until the end of the thrusters (31:00). Then it felt like hitting a brick wall headfirst.

At the time, I thought I was running out of fuel. In retrospect, like Scott mentioned, there were plenty of excuses - the ridiculous heat (95+ easy), the heavy leg work yesterday, the alcohol - but ultimately it was a failure of will. May have been judicious though, really felt like I was on the verge of blacking out.

You realize this just means we have to do it again real soon though, right?

Man, I am glad I wasn't there today. Sounds fucked up.

Sometime you do the workout, and sometimes the workout does you. Definitely the latter this time.

Certainly without Scott there, I would have gone home after the thrusters.

haha you should have all come out and played softball with me. Much more enjoyable, and not even 95 degrees in central park.
