Finding a hamster with your wife
Short, intense session with B, E, G, and J at TRC tonight. The discussion was free-ranging, particularly on the ride home - dead bunnies, parthenogenetic chicks, and hamster cuckolding, if I remember correctly.
The night started off with lots of traffic and me waiting on a corner in the LES, wondering how many minivans could pass by without a single one of them being the speedy ascensionist-laden Frechettemobile. Eventually we made it and suited up for a little climbing. Joanna focused on bouldering, I didn't catch much but I did see her grooving through the start of the pinchfest V5 (pink) - perhaps she's the one to watch in the upcoming comp...
Brian and Guillaume started systematically, working through a 9- (yellow/green) overhanging warmup and a 10 (white). Eric got back on the lead horse, working the moves on some 8, 9, and 10s. Jetlagged and sluggish, I finished the 9- and waited around for G so we could hit up the new 12 project he's been raving about. Great climb - small holds and balancey moves on the vertical start, then a series of core-tension, high-step moves on giant slopers (planet->brain->death star) on the slightly overhung bottom, finishing up with tricky body positioning on small holds on the steep face and roof up top. Hangdogged my way up the climb, but I felt stronger than I had thought I would, given the redeye in from the West coast that morning; think I was the proudest of my heel hook beta on the tricky block near the top - hope to finish off the last moves next time. G looked great on the climb, good confident clips; he nailed the finishing moves too.
Ms. Pssst came by to proclaim her out-of-shapeness once again, but was convinced to rope up. Her arguments were pretty unconvincing after she styled the route, resting on holds I could barely hang onto. We finished off with a little bouldering, but I was way too tired to try anything seriously. Brian, however, was crankin' and knocked off the peanut V3+ in the back corner. Now, if only I could get him to pony up $25 for the comp...
And since we were discussing it, here's some info on SF/bay area climbing. Don't forget, Yosemite's just a 4 hour Frechette-ride away.

I don't recall talking bout any of those things!
I caught Joana working on a couple of steep V2s, and she kicked my ass on a 'follow-the-leader' traverse around the base. Also happy that G & I finally got the peanut V3+ that Kenway sent a couple of sessions ago.
Link to the Gunks.com thread about the groundfall accident last weekend. Time to brush up on your CPR.
Yeah, I think those comments came at the very end of the trip - see what you miss by not riding the Frechettemobile to the bitter end?
Super nice send on the V3+, BTRW - I totally forgot, I'll include it in the post...
Man, I can barely move my arms above my shoulders today...
Link to Simon Carter's report on the loose bolt incident we talked about in the van here, with a follow-up here.
That was a great night. I was bummed however about coming so close but not finishing two of the routes clean, the camo in particular.
Yeah, but at least we all got to witness a spectacular whipper.
Agreed! G, you get some frequent flyer miles for last night.
tapping on hold with your knuckles to make sure they will hold? sounds intense...
