Carpetbombin' run

Full van headed up to New Rochelle for a crowded evening of climbing tonight: Guillaume, Brian, Eric, Joana, Jill, and Brett. There was much linguistic discussion coming from the Back Seat Brigade (you know who you are), making it a learnative as well as exercisous evening.

Couldn't keep track of all the climbing with three groups climbing a mix of toprope and lead. Incredibly crowded too, but managed to sneak in a warm-up lead on a new 9 (brown) with solid holds and relatively thoughtful climbing up the overhanging arch and exiting up the slightly off vertical wall in the back. Brett, Guillaume, and I took a couple runs at an 11 (orange) that skirts up the overhanging arete - kept getting spit off at a tough clip before a big move to a sloper, think the key is to gun for the sloper before clipping but couldn't summon the energy or willpower to go for it. Returned to the yellow 11 we tried the other night, tough moves up the other overhanging arete, tricky exit over the lip with a big move and tough clip, then burly stemming moves through an overhanging dihedral. Couldn't pull the exit, but G looked really good going through. Saw Obe run through it on toprope with an astonishing ability to hang on and work the moves slowly and deliberately. Brian put in some excellent work on the long 11 (blue camo) too.

Cooled down with a variety of things: bouldering, some dynamic repetitions on the hangboards, and burpees. Brian pulled a stellar running man to topout a V3 in the back - a move I haven't seen in all my years of climbing.
