Texas, week 13, volume
Warm-up:
back squat (triples to 185#)
5x5 back squat (225)
2x5 shoulder press (100)
2-2-5 deadlift (315 [w], 325 [w], 325 [s])
Bumped the volume back up on the squats. Technique felt really good today; deep squats, well below parallel with good speed out of the hole. Last rep of each set was tough, and I could actually feel individual fucking muscle fibers firing away in my lower back on the very last rep. Sweet Jesus! Kind of feels like what I would imagine it would feel like when your muscles rip. Can go up 5# next week. Cut the press short for time, although I likely would have finished that set off at 95#; next week I should do 3 sets at 100#, and 2 at 95#. Deadlifts felt fine, although I missed lockout on the last rep due to grip. Go up 5# next week and remember to bring chalk.
It was also a nice change to find people in the other squat racks getting coached in the back squat and push jerk by a guy wearing a Crossfit t-shirt. An affiliate in Harlem someday?
