Texas, week 8, intensity
Warm-up:
back squat (to doubles at 225#)
3x1 back squat (260,270,270 [spotted])
3x1 deadlift (315,365,375)
3x3 bench press (135,2x140)
Total lack of focus today, not a good mental state to be doing heavy singles. Squats felt very heavy. Deadlift at 365 felt very easy, but 375 (weak grip) nearly killed me; it was very slow above the knees. I'm gonna switch to heavy doubles on the intensity days for the next few weeks. I tried to bench from the squat rack, which was much harder than I thought since the reps started at the bottom position. I guess that stretch reflex at the bottom really does something! Decided against heavy singles, and did some reps instead.
Finished with some deadlifts at lighter weight (2x2x225# and 1x5x135#) to work on getting my starting position consistent and maintaining lumbar extension.
