Whipper gripper

Hit up TRC for a little climbing with Guillaume tonight. Both of us were a little tired, and for whatever reasons the climbs we did (10+, 11-) felt awkward, overly technical, and difficult to clip. Guillaume took an awe-inspiring 20+ footer from the 4th bolt of the first climb - with an armful of slack out and feet well above the last bolt, he rode it all the way down near the ground, to the point of pulling me up well past him (in the end my legs were above his head). Whew!

Was a nice clean fall, though, and G showed moxie enough to hop back on and keep climbing. I gave him a soft belay, but in retrospect knowing how close he ended to the ground, I would have played it a little more tight. Good to know I can catch a big one...

Indeed, good to know you can catch a big one! For the record, my lack of injury supports the hypothesis that your belay was perfect.

Thanks again Master.

Well, I think I owed you a few catches. It's funny how that fraction of a second, where you were fully extended for that clip but started back down and when I realized you were going for a ride, seemed to stretch on for many seconds.

On the other hand, the actual fall and catch I don't remember. Just being pulled up at the end and looking down at you.

Strong work on the next few climbs... Different warm-up next time, amigo?

Nice job Kenway. We need to keep him intact so the drives to TRC stay exciting! I almost brought climbing stuff to Montreal--then I could have checked out Allez-Up or the bouldering problems that apparently are on Île-Ste-Hélène or on Mont-Royal. As it is I'll have to settle for aikido and maybe some Bikram.
