Christmas Eve Climbing
Sam and I decided that we couldn't think of a better way to spend Christmas Eve afternoon that tackling some routes at MetroRock. I've never been there before and it's a nice gym. About the same size (perhaps a tad smaller) that The Rock Club but some nice routes and a great staff. And even better, they have an espresso machine! We stated easy and warmed up on 'Speed Racer' but neither of us lived up to the name. We then moved on to some 5.8s and 5.9s and both got pushed by a nice route called, 'Yes, that's the only foot you get' that required some serous planning and smearing into the rock. There were two tricky moves, one was a really smearing/balancing act and the other a heel-pull. We finished with 'A bit of Russia(?)' and it demonstrated some tricky route setting. You had to criss-cross and there were some tough moves. It topped out at a rock that was large and had no real grip! I never made it that far, as my arms gave out half-way up with the gym closing, but Sam completed it (eventually) in style!

Awesome, those look like some decent walls. I'm impressed the place was open.
and layout was very similar to The Rock Club. The have a much bigger place north of Boston but its too far north. I'll post a couple of pictures later. You guys know anything about Osprey Talon 22? I'm considering it as a small climbing pack. Also looking at REI and EMS ripstop pants...
I haven't tried the Talon 22, but the Osprey packs I've looked at seem nice enough. You can find a decent review of the Talon 22 here.
