Welcome Maggie!

Today was special because something happened that no one ever expected... Maggie came to the gym with us! Sorry, there wasn't very much testosterone in that last sentence. Anyway, here's what we did.

warmup: run a lap around the track

then, for time:

5 rounds
1/6 mile run (~285m)
100 ft. walking lunges
35 pushups (MG sub 15 knee pushups)

MG: 20:00
KL: 20:15
SS: 22:49

cooldown:
SS&KL: barbell complex, 50# + 100m sprint

This was a very steady workout. There was never any overwhelming need to take long breaks, so the pace was always relatively constant. All in all a good metcon workout, but didn't leave me dying at the end. You can decide for yourself whether that's a good thing or not.

Oh, and sprints are a pretty strange way to "cool down"...

maybe, but it felt really great to just go all out like that. I really want to do some Tabata Sprints in the near future.

Yeah, I seriously thought Scott was trying to kill me with the sprint. I ran a blazing 60m neck and neck with Scott - too bad we were going a 100m.

Scott's right, with the running workouts it's harder to reach metabolic exhaustion, mostly because you end up slowing down.

I like these workouts because they work the mental discipline to keep pushing the run - which I hate, BTW - even when tired from the intervening exercises.
