Deadlift metcon (not just an oxymoron)

warmup: OHS (45#,65#,85#)

workout:
10 rounds for time of
15 deadlifts (135#)
15 push-ups

KL: 16:40
SS: 33:15

We busted this one out for the morning exercise since we wouldn't have time to do it later today. It's definitely a grinder, but the biggest problem for me was definitely grip. I had a normal grip for the first 5 rounds, then a hook grip for the 6th and I had to use switch grip for the last four. I found that the best way to use a hook grip is to not only grab your thumb, but also to grab the bar with your thumb. This makes the grip less awkward and painful. Unfortunately, it still wasn't strong enough to hold the bar so I finished with the switch grip.

Kenway was going at a good pace the whole time, and even scored his time on every round:
0:58 1:08 1:17 1:32 1:39 2:02 1:57 2:01 2:07 1:59

Here's the comparison with his previous attempt:

Wow, even though I like this workout, standing over the bar before the start was daunting. I was able to better push myself the second time through knowing what the rest was going to feel like. Surprisingly, even though I pushed through more rounds without breaking up sets (using the switch grip helped a lot), the overall trend of pacing was almost exactly the same (see graph).

Nice work guys! I hate this one.

The first attempt is always the worst, never know if your going to die or not.

Nice job pushing through a grinder, Scott. My favorite moment: afterwards in the locker room, one of the guys who was watching us work out asked Scott, "So were you doing a set number of reps or just going until you puked?"

Lovely praise.

Yeah this one was pretty tough, but not too bad. Kenway and I have started giving them ratings based on how hard it was and how terrible we feel afterwards. We decided this one gets somewhere between a B and a B+

I didn't think it would be too bad before I started, but we did a few warmup lifts with the 135# and it felt heeeeavy....
